ABOUT

Mina Dastanian was born in the historic city of Isfahan in the heart of Iran and spent the first 8 years of her childhood grasping the architectural artefacts and handcraft arts of Isfahan. From the age of 8 to 16, she lived in an oasis in Caspian surrounded by forests and the sea. She was inspired by the rich nature of northern Iran, while exploring her artistic talents. She then moved to Tehran to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Persian Handcrafts from the Al-Zahra University, and her Master’s degree in Restoration and Conservation of Historic Monuments from Azad University in Tehran. Immediately after graduation, she began her academic career as a senior lecturer in various art subjects in 4 different universities in Tehran, a period which lasted over 9 years.

 

Mina’s fascination with Farsi literature together with her background in applied arts and philosophy of art, urged her to illustrate some of Hafiz, Ferdowsi and Rumi’s poems in the form of visual anecdotes. Her Miniature work “The battle of Siamak and the Beast” an original work which has depicted a story from Šāhnāmeh of Ferdowsi, Has taken a year of intense full-time work to complete.

 

Mina has been engaged in various subjects in Art. To name a few she has practiced Persian Miniature, Water Colour, Geometric Design, Ceramics, Sculpting and Persian Carpet Design. She has participated in over 30 exhibitions in Iran. Since her arrival in Stockholm 5 years ago, Mina has taken part in 5 Group Exhibitions and also hosted 3 Solo Exhibitions. Mina is a member of the “Husby Konst och Häntverksförening” since January 2018 and a member of “Svenska Konstnärsförbundet” since January 2019.
